Job Description
A solar panel manufacturing department head is responsible for overseeing all aspects of on the assigned area of the production floor and it’s solar panel manufacturing process, from production planning and execution to quality control and continuous improvement. This role involves managing a team, ensuring safety and compliance, and optimizing production for efficiency and profitability.
Key responsibilities:
· Production Planning and Scheduling:
Develop and implement production plans and schedules to meet customer demand and optimize resource utilization.
· Team Management:
Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of manufacturing personnel.
· Quality Control:
Establish and maintain quality standards for all products, ensuring adherence to specifications and industry best practices.
· Process Improvement:
Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
· Cost Management:
Manage budgets, costs, and resources effectively to optimize production processes and minimize expenses.
· Safety and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and industry standards.
· Communication and Collaboration:
Effectively communicate with other departments (e.g., sales, engineering, logistics) to coordinate production and meet customer needs.
· Technical Expertise:
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in solar panel manufacturing.
Qualifications:
· Degree in business management is preferred
· Basic understanding of manufacturing
· Experience: 7 + years in a manufacturing, production, or similar environment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Strong leadership and management skills.
· Experience in production planning and scheduling.
· Knowledge of quality control procedures and standards.
· Understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
· Ability to analyze data and identify areas for improvement.
· Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance requirements.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Proficiency in using production management software
Working conditions:
· Works primarily on the production floor environment
· Standing for extended periods of time. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse
· Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
· May be required to work after hours and on weekends or holidays
Physical requirements:
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, and ability to navigate to each department at the organization facility
